My love for sports began early; like most kids, I dreamed of being a pro athlete, specifically an NBA player suiting up for my hometown Minnesota Timberwolves. But it didn’t take long to realize that pro sports would never be in the cards for me—a general lack of athleticism parlayed with a natural on-court timidness has never been an NBA recipe.
So, I turned my focus to fandom. I succeeded in that field. I’ve been obsessed with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Vikings since before I remember talking, and my wardrobe has always featured a variety of jerseys. I even wrote my college essay on my Timberwolves fandom.
In high school, I learned that writing about sports is a profession—so here I am, trying to make a career out of it. I am lucky enough to have participated in paid journalism programs, been published in the Star Tribune and MinnPost, and have been accepted into Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Public Communications.
